Minister Luong Tam Quang praises police units for arrest of bank robbers

On January 19, 2026, two men used firearms to rob more than 1.8 billion VND from the Tra Ba Transaction Office of Vietcombank – Gia Lai Branch, causing public concern and outrage.

Although there is little information on the suspects’ identifying characteristics, and they used sophisticated tactics to avoid investigative agencies, the police forces across the country with their highest sense of responsibility and close coordination have successfully found the track of the two suspects and arrested them on February 5, 2026 who were carrying four firearms along with numerous exhibits related to the case.

The police’s outstanding achievement demonstrates their high determination, strong sense of responsibility and sharp professional expertise while implementing the directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security on ensuring public order and security on the turn of 2026.

The arrest of the two bank robbers has contributed to deterring and preventing crime, stabilizing the security and order situation in the country, and strengthening public trust in the Public Security Forces.

The achievement is also seen as the Public Security Forces’ gesture to celebrate the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, laying an important foundation of public order, security and safety for the people to enjoy a peaceful and happy Lunar New Year 2026.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the Minister congratulated and commended the involved police units and officers on their outstanding achievements.

The Minister requested the Gia Lai Provincial Police Department to promptly expand the investigation, complete related documentation and evidence, and closely coordinate with judicial authorities to prosecute all suspects in accordance with the law.
