
Minister Luong Tam Quang hosts outgoing Palestinian Ambassador
Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine Saadi Salama, who bid farewell to the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership upon the completion of his tenure in Vietnam, on the afternoon of June 10 in Hanoi.

At the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated Ambassador Saadi Salama on his successful ambassadorship in Vietnam and highly appreciated his effort and significant contributions to promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries in general, as well as cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Palestinian law enforcement agencies in particular.
Affirming the close ties between the two countries, Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that Palestine has long been a close friend and trusted partner of Vietnam, from the period of national liberation struggles to the current cause of national construction and development.
Despite the geographical distance, he added, the two countries share many similarities and a common aspiration for the building of an independent, sovereign and prosperous nation as well as a just and democratic society.
Giving his review of international developments, Minister Luong Tam Quang stated that Vietnam always pays close attention to and sympathizes with the difficulties and losses endured by the Palestinian people, particularly the current humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
He reiterated Vietnam’s support for dialogue and the peaceful settlement of conflicts and disputes in accordance with international law, especially relevant resolutions of the United Nations and the consensus of the parties concerned.
Further, Minister Luong Tam Quang acknowledged and highly appreciated Ambassador Saadi Salama’s role as a bridge promoting specific cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Palestinian Ministry of Interior.
He noted that the visit to Vietnam by the Palestinian Minister of Interior in May 2023 and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on crime prevention and control marked an important milestone, laying a solid foundation for long-term security cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his hope that, upon returning to Palestine, Ambassador Saadi Salama, with his deep understanding of and good sentiments for Vietnam, would continue to advocate for stronger bilateral cooperation by advising the Palestinian leadership, thereby contributing to the security and prosperity of both countries as well as to peace and stability in the region and the world.
Expressing his sincere appreciation for the support, assistance and goodwill extended by Minister Luong Tam Quang and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam throughout his tenure, Ambassador Saadi Salama affirmed that, in his new position, he would continue making efforts to further deepen and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
