Promoting the role of the political system in safeguarding national security in the new era of national development
The Ministry of Public Security held a national scientific conference entitled “Promoting the Role of the Political System in Safeguarding National Security in the New Era of National Development,” on June 10, in Hanoi.

Member of the Politburo and Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu attended and delivered a keynote speech at the conference.
The conference was co-chaired by several senior leaders, including Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang; Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Commission for Policy and Strategy Nguyen Thanh Nghi; former Member of the Politburo and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang; Member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense General Nguyen Tan Cuong; and Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung.
The conference also saw the presence of Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Commission for Internal Affairs Le Minh Tri; former and current members of the Party Central Committee; former and current leaders of central Party commissions, ministries and sectors; former leaders of the Ministry of Public Security; representatives of provincial-level Party Committees and People’s Committees; as well as scholars and researchers inside and outside the Public Security Forces.
In his opening remarks, Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu emphasized that the conference was of great significance as it aimed at fostering a common understanding, strengthening political determination and further clarifying the responsibilities of authorities of all levels, sectors and the entire political system for the missions of firmly safeguarding national security and creating a peaceful and stable environment for national development in the new period.
Delivering the keynote address, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang stressed that the conference would intensively evaluate the achievements and shortcomings in safeguarding national security over the past time as well as identify causes of the shortcomings, clarify new perceptions and strategic thinking on national security and national security protection, and define task orientations throughout 2030 with a vision toward 2045. The conclusions at the conference will contribute to the further development and refinement of the theoretical framework on safeguarding national security in the new era.
The Organizing Committee received more than 130 scientific papers from Party and State leaders, senior leaders of the Public Security Forces and the Vietnam People’s Army, leaders of central and local agencies, research institutes, training institutions and scholars.

These papers reflected their extensive intellectual efforts and strong sense of responsibility, offering comprehensive analyses of both theoretical and practical issues relating to national security and national security protection from diverse perspectives and approaches.


Delegates discuss related issues.
During the conference, delegates actively participated in in-depth discussions to clarify theoretical issues related to national security and national security protection, as well as requirements and orientations for further research, development and revision of theoretical foundations in the new context.
In his concluding remarks, Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the conference had clarified key issues concerning national security in the new era, underlining an urgent need to maximize the role of the political system in safeguarding national security. The conference reached consensus to advise the Party Central Committee to issue a resolution on the National Security Strategy.
The Minister called on relevant agencies to continue consolidating the theory and practicapromoting the role of the political system in safeguarding national security in the new era, thereby contributing effectively to the completion of the National Security Strategy Project for submission to the 14th Party Central Committee at its forthcoming plenary session.
