RoK Ambassador bids farewell to MPS leadership

Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang received outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam Choi Young Sam who bid farewell to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam’s leadership, on the afternoon of June 10 in Hanoi.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated Ambassador Choi Young Sam on his successful tenure in the country and highly appreciated his positive contributions to promoting the Vietnam–RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general, as well as cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea’s law enforcement agencies in particular.

Reviewing important milestones in the bilateral relations, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the successful visit to the Republic of Korea by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in August 2025 and the visit to Hanoi by President Lee Jae Myung in April 2026 had reaffirmed the robust partnership between the two countries, which is oriented toward a future of peace, stability and prosperity.

The Minister noted that bilateral cooperation is currently expanding to a number of high-value-added sectors, including infrastructure, smart cities, semiconductors, large-scale artificial intelligence data centers and next-generation seaports.

Regarding security and law enforcement cooperation, Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that this area has consistently been a highlight of bilateral relations and has achieved many substantive results through the regular maintenance of cooperation mechanisms such as the Deputy Ministerial-level Security Dialogue, the Deputy Ministerial-level Police Cooperation Conference and the Vietnam–RoK Liaison Office channel.

In particular, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his sincere appreciation to the Republic of Korea for its assistance projects for the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, notably Phase III of the project on enhancing forensic science capacity for the Ministry, stressing that the project serves as a testament to the effective cooperation between the Korean National Police Agency and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, contributing to strengthening the country’s law enforcement capacity  in the new era.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed confidence that, in his future position, Ambassador Choi Young Sam would continue to make valuable contributions to promoting bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of security and social order, for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Choi Young Sam thanked Minister Luong Tam Quang and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for their close coordination and support throughout his tenure in Vietnam.

He also highly appreciated Vietnam’s development achievements and the effective cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries in recent years.

The Ambassador affirmed that, in whatever position he may hold in the future, he would continue to actively contribute to further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea in general and between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies in particular, making the relationship increasingly substantive, practical and effective.
