Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc works in Kyrgyzstan to advance bilateral law enforcement ties

The meetings marked important initial steps in accelerating law enforcement cooperation between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan.

In Bishkek, Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc met with Kyrgyz Minister of Internal Affairs Ulan Omokanovich Niyazbekov and Deputy Minister Suyunbek Niyazbekovich Niyazbekov to discuss approaches to enhance joint efforts against transnational crime.

Leadership from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that despite the geographic distance and a modest Vietnamese diaspora in Kyrgyzstan, recent years have seen a steady increase in Vietnamese citizens residing, working, and investing in Kyrgyzstan, as well as Kyrgyz tourists visiting Vietnam.

This growing mobility creates an urgent need for law enforcement agencies from both nations to establish formal cooperation mechanisms to ensure security and safety for citizens living, working, and traveling in both countries.

On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc commended Kyrgyz authorities, particularly the Ministry of Internal Affairs, for maintaining security and order during major international events hosted by Kyrgyzstan, including the SCO Plus Summit and the 6th World Nomad Games.

The two sides agreed that, grounded in strong political relations, law enforcement cooperation between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan holds immense potential for substantive growth.

To realize this potential, Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc and Kyrgyz internal affairs leaders agreed to study and establish a comprehensive law enforcement cooperation mechanism between the two ministries.

In the coming period, the sides will prioritize information sharing and joint efforts against transnational criminal activities, specifically drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, cybercrime, high-tech crime, and illegal migration, while boosting immigration management efficiency.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc conveyed warm greetings and an invitation from Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang to the Kyrgyz Minister of Internal Affairs to pay an official visit to Vietnam at a convenient time. The proposed visit aims to facilitate deeper discussions between senior police officials and establish a legal framework for future institutional cooperation.
