MPS leader pays respects to late Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane

Following the state tribute, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen led a delegation from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to pay respects to Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane.

In a solemn and emotionally charged atmosphere, the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam laid a wreath and observed a minute of silent respect in memory of the late Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.

The Deputy Minister extended his deepest condolences to the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and fraternal people of Laos, as well as to the bereaved family of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane.

Earlier, on the evening of August 8 (local time), the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), and the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction issued a message of profound sorrow announcing that Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane had passed away at the age of 70.

In deep mourning for Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane and reflecting the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to observe national mourning for Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane with state funeral rites for two days, from August 10 to 11.
