Deputy Minister Pham The Tung commends Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department for dismantling transnational cybercriminal group

Over the past time, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department took synchronous professional measures to investigate a transnational criminal group using computer networks, telecommunications networks and electronic means to illegally appropriate people’s property.

At an attack on the criminal group, the police have arrested 29 suspects and seized two computers, 26 mobile phones and numerous documents and exhibits related to the case.

The initial investigation results show that the suspects recruited hundreds of employees and developed scripted schemes to lure people into investing in online cryptocurrency trading networks in order to fraudulently appropriate more than 1 trillion VND from hundreds of victims nationwide.

This outstanding achievement demonstrates the high determination, strong sense of responsibility, ingenuity, creativity and sharp professional expertise of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police in general and the Cybersecurity and Hi-Tech Crimes Division and the Security Investigation Division in particular, which followed the directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security on resolutely combating and controlling crime, particularly organized crime, hi-tech crime and transnational crime, to ensure security and order for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Lunar New Year 2026.

The successful investigation of the case has contributed to deterring and preventing crime, preventing people from being victims of online fraud and losing their property, and strengthening public trust in the Public Security Forces.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung acknowledged and commended the involved units and officers on their accomplish.

The Deputy Minister requested the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department to promptly expand the investigation, complete related documents and evidence and legal procedures to prosecute all suspects in accordance with the law.

He also requested strengthening public warnings about criminal methods and tricks so as to raise people’s vigilance against this type of crime.
