Congratulating Ambassador Chea Kimtha on her successful ambassadorship in Vietnam, Minister Luong Tam Quang said that, thanks to her positive contribution, the traditional friendship and relations between Vietnam and Cambodia have developed positively across many fields, including politics, diplomacy, defence and security, contributing to enhancing each country’s position and delivering tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Regarding cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia, Minister Luong Tam Quang noted that, over the past time, the two ministries maintained close coordination in safeguarding national security in each country, ensuring security and safety for major political events and jointly combating transnational crime, particularly online fraud, drug trafficking and human trafficking.

In addition, the two sides also stepped up delegation exchanges at all levels, while the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam provided various training and capacity-building programmes for hundreds of officials from the Cambodian Ministry of Interior. Furthermore, police departments of border provinces in both countries maintained regular exchanges, shared important information to combat crime and closely coordinated in handling complex security incidents along the borderline, contributing to the building and protection of a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border.

As Ambassador Chea Kimtha is about to return to Cambodia to assume new responsibilities, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his hope that she would continue to support the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Cambodian functional agencies in joining efforts to prevent and combat transnational crimes, such as drug trafficking, online fraud and human trafficking, as well as coordination in carrying out victim rescue operations and the handover of suspects and evidence in criminal cases.

For her part, Ambassador Chea Kimtha sincerely thanked the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Minister Luong Tam Quang for the close coordination and support extended to the Cambodian Embassy and to her personally during her tenure in Vietnam.

She affirmed that she, in any future position, would continue to promote cooperative activities between the two sides, contributing to further deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries in general and between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia in particular, in a substantive and effective manner.
