
Vietnam’s MPS promotes comprehensive cooperation with Singapore’s MHA
A high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, attended the 13th Deputy Ministerial-Level Meeting and the 8th Sports Exchange between Vietnam’s MPS and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of Singapore, on May 28 in Singapore.

At a courtesy call on Singaporean Minister of State for Home Affairs Goh Pei Ming, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen highlighted that the traditional friendship and sound cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore have developed strongly and comprehensively across all fields since the two countries upgraded their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025.
At the meeting, both sides agreed to further promote practical and effective cooperation between the two ministries, contributing to safeguarding national security and social order in each country, as well as to peace, stability and shared prosperity in the region.
Following the courtesy call, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen and Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Development at Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs Tan Chye Hee co-chaired the 13th Deputy Ministerial-Level Meeting between the two ministries.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed and evaluated the implementation of cooperation activities since the 12th bilateral meeting.
They also exchanged information, their hands-on experiences and outstanding results in combating emerging crimes, particularly cyber-enabled fraud, drug-related crimes, money laundering and asset recovery.
The two sides highly appreciated the effective implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore on the Prevention and Combat of Transnational Crime, signed in March 2025.
Over the past period, the two ministries have maintained effective coordination in exchanging criminal intelligence, handling numerous cases through INTERPOL channels, combating drug-related crimes, apprehending wanted fugitives and closely cooperating within ASEAN multilateral mechanisms on drug control and transnational crime prevention and combat.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security highly appreciated the effective support and assistance of Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs, particularly in personnel training as well as its coordination in investigating and handling several major cases involving corruption, economic fraud and transnational crime.
Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen proposed that the two sides continue maintaining exchanges of strategic information, strengthen cooperation in combating all forms of crime, especially organized transnational crime, and ensure security and safety for investment, business activities and citizens of both countries living, studying, working and traveling legally in each other’s territories.
He also suggested that the Singaporean side further share its experience in cybersecurity, the application of science and technology in combating hi-tech crime, as well as experience in developing legal frameworks for the management of cryptocurrencies and virtual assets, monitoring cross-border digital transactions and recovering assets related to financial crimes, money laundering and online fraud.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the two sides organized the 8th Sports Exchange, thereby strengthening solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between officers of the two ministries.
