Present at the event were also current and former leaders of the Party and State, alongside leaders of central ministries, sectors, and localities.
Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the ceremony.
Delivering the commemorative speech, Director of the People’s Security Academy Lieutenant General Trinh Ngoc Quyen stated that 80 years ago, on June 25, 1946, the Public Security Training School - the predecessor of today’s People’s Security Academy - was officially established. It was the first educational institution of the Public Security Forces and one of the earliest educational establishments founded in Vietnam following the August Revolution.
Throughout its development, the People’s Security Academy has consistently received special attention from Party, State, and Ministry of Public Security leadership. Notably, President Ho Chi Minh visited the Academy’s staff, lecturers and students eight times. Over the past 80 years, the Academy has achieved remarkable milestones in education, training, scientific research, international cooperation, and force-building, making vital contributions to safeguarding national security and maintaining social order and safety.
On the occasion of its 80th founding anniversary, the State President awarded the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces to the People’s Security Academy for the third time in recognition of its outstanding achievements and historic contributions.
Addressing the ceremony on behalf of the Party and State leadership, General Secretary and State President To Lam warmly congratulated and highly commended the Academy for its exceptional achievements in safeguarding national security and building, developing, and defending the Fatherland.
To fulfill its responsibilities in the new era, the General Secretary and State President requested the Academy to clearly define a fresh development vision and orientation. He urged them to strongly renovate their educational philosophy, training methods, and curricula, effectively combine tradition with modernity, and cultivate a high-quality security workforce capable of meeting modern security demands.
He also stressed the importance of building a contingent of lecturers and educational managers with rock-solid political steadfastness, deep intellectual capacity, strategic vision, and international integration capabilities, who can serve as exemplary role models and sources of inspiration for future generations of cadets.
The General Secretary and State President further called on the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and Training, and relevant ministries and sectors to establish appropriate mechanisms and allocate adequate resources to support the People’s Security Academy. This support will target its development strategies, building the Academy into a premier educational and research institution within both the Public Security Forces and the country at large.
