
MPS reviews public security work in first quarter
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting, on April 3 in Hanoi, to review public security work in the first quarter of 2026, and to summarize the campaign on attacking and suppressing crime to ensure security and order during the Lunar New Year 2026.

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the meeting.
Presenting the general report, Chief of the MPS Office Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan stated that the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS had seriously and effectively implemented the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the nine strategic resolutions of the Politburo.
At the same time, the forces performed well their role as a strategic advisor to the Party and the State, thereby firmly safeguarding national security, ensuring social order and safety and contributing to unlocking resources, creating favorable conditions for development and maintaining a safe and secure environment for socio-economic growth.
Under the moderation of Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, delegates evaluated achieved results, frankly pointed out limitations, difficulties and causes, and proposed orientations and key tasks of the Public Security Forces for the second quarter of 2026.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS leadership, Minister Luong Tam Quang acknowledged and hailed the achievements of the entire Public Security Forces in the first quarter.
Regarding their tasks for the second quarter and the coming period, the Minister requested public security units and agencies to promptly implement the directives of Party General Secretary To Lam at the first-quarter meeting of the Public Security Central Party Committee.
He stressed the need to urgently and comprehensively study theoretical and practical issues related to the expansion of the domain of national security by 2030 with a vision toward 2045, in line with the principle that security cover be always expanded along with the development space.
The Minister urged the police forces to deploy drastic measures to reduce the crime rate so as to meet the set targets on as well as the target for traffic safety and fire and explosion prevention.
In addition, he also directed the police forces to detect, combat and strictly handle acts of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, as well as crimes and violations related to environmental protection and food safety.
The police were urged to effectively implement drug prevention and control plans, striving to build 30 percent of communes and wards free from drugs.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the need to early detect and decisively combat emerging economic crimes, including carbon fraud, falsification of the origin tracing of goods, fake digital certificates and falsified enterprise data.
Highlighting that the development of the security industry is an urgent requirement, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested leaders of public security units and agencies to adopt a new mindset on developing the sector, saying that it is a key mission of the entire Public Security Forces, an important responsibility of all units and officers.
He suggested promoting security products on market, seeking partners as well as looking for capable partners and experts for the security industry.
