MPS, KNPA continue expanding cooperation

At the talks, Lieutenant General Dang Xuan Hong emphasized that, under the direction of the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security and the Korean National Police Agency, the two sides’ functional units had effectively coordinated in information exchange, combating transnational crimes, apprehending wanted fugitives, and protecting citizens.

Appreciating the close and effective coordinating role of the Department of Foreign Relations in combating transnational crime, Mr. Park Jun Sung affirmed that the Korean National Police Agency highly valued cooperative relations with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and wished to further expand cooperation in potential areas in the coming time.

At the talks, both sides agreed that Vietnam – Republic of Korea relations have developed positively and comprehensively, especially since the two countries upgraded their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.

Within the overall bilateral relationship, security and law enforcement cooperation continued to be identified as one of the important pillars, contributing to protecting the interests, security and safety of citizens of one country legally working and living in the other.

To further improve the effectiveness of cooperation, the two sides agreed to promote exchanges of delegations at all levels, strengthen information sharing on newly emerging crimes, and coordinate in researching and expanding training and capacity-building programs with ththe capabilities of the police forces of both countries amid increasingly sophisticated methods and tactics used by transnational criminals.

On this occasion, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on upgrading the Vietnam – Korea Liaison Office, also known as the Korean Desk and a Memorandum of Understanding on the Action Plan to implement the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Korean National Police Agency.

The signing of these cooperation documents is expected to contribute to improving the legal framework and creating further momentum to deepen practical and effective cooperation between the two sides.
