
MPS inspects disaster relief work in Nghe An province
A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) led by Deputy Chief of the MPS Office Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen inspected the work of relieving the aftermath of Typhoon No. 5 in central provinces on August 26–27.

Typhoon No. 5 formed over the East Sea on August 24, rapidly intensifying to levels 13–14 with gusts up to level 17 before making direct landfall in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces on the evening of August 25.
In Nghe An province, the storm and heavy rains made 1,581 households evacuate, inundated 776 houses, and damaged more than 4,600 homes, of which 241 belonged to policy families and poor households.

In addition, 83 schools and nine medical facilities were affected, over 35,000 hectares of rice and other crops were destroyed while key infrastructure projects of transportation, electricity, telecommunications and irrigation systems were heavily damaged.
Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen extended his deep sympathy to local residents for their losses, and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and decisive actions of Nghe An’s political system in disaster response and relief efforts.
Delegates present financial support to affected households.
He requested the Nghe An Provincial Police Department to continue mobilizing maximum manpower and resources to accelerate recovery work, ensuring that no household is left without shelter, food, or clothing.
He also emphasized the importance of stabilizing people’s lives early so that they can celebrate National Day in safety and students can start the new school year on schedule.
Delegates visit Kim Lien Historical Site.
As part of the inspection, the delegation visited the Kim Lien Historical Site to assess the storm’s damage and review ongoing relief efforts. The MPS will develop appropriate support measures to ensure the site is promptly restored to welcome visitors during the National Day celebration.
