Minister Luong Tam Quang receives Chairman of Japan's Yamato Group

Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang received Chairman of the Board of Directors of Japan's Yamato Group Nagao Yutaka, on the afternoon of July 6, in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his pleasure at the positive development of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, particularly in the areas of security, defense, economic connectivity, and innovation.

Highly appreciating the position of Yamato – Japan's leading logistics corporation with more than 100 years of experience, Minister Luong Tam Quang welcomed the Group's contributions to Vietnam's socio-economic development since establishing its subsidiary in the country in 2015.

Affirming the objective of developing Gia Binh International Airport into a leading regional air cargo transshipment hub, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that Yamato Group study and evaluate investments in warehouse systems and freight transport infrastructure at this location. He also opened up directions for operational cooperation between Yamato and Vietnamese partners once the project officially enters service.

Furthermore, Minister Luong Tam Quang highly appreciated and supported Yamato Group's upcoming cooperation with Vietnam's FPT Group to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory in Vietnam. This facility will research and apply AI and big data to supply chain management, freight coordination, and the development of specialized logistics sectors to serve high-tech industries—particularly the semiconductor industry, which Vietnam is prioritizing for development.

Emphasizing that Vietnam is a market of 100 million people with one of the world's fastest-growing e-commerce sectors, offering massive room for the logistics industry, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested Yamato Group to continue expanding its investments. He encouraged the development of large-scale, high-speed logistics centers, financial hubs, and modern logistics infrastructure in Vietnam's key economic zones, while considering priority recruitment of disciplined, highly skilled Vietnamese workers into the Group’s global system.

Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will always accompany businesses, maintaining an open, transparent investment environment, and creating all favorable conditions for Yamato Group to operate safely and effectively in full compliance with Vietnamese law.

Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for taking the time to receive him, Yamato Group Chairman Nagao Yutaka expressed his impression of Vietnam’s development potential. He affirmed that Yamato Group would continue to study and implement key cooperation projects, contributing to further promoting the enduring relations between the two nations.
