Dien Bien Provincial Police Department has annual meeting with Lao counterparts

From November 24 to 28, a delegation of the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department led by its Deputy Director Senior Colonel Do Ngoc Minh visited and had an annual meeting with the public security departments of Bokeo, Luang Namtha and Phongsaly provinces of Laos to review the two sides’ coordination in maintaining security and order between the two sides over the past time.

In executing the 2025 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department and the three northern Lao provincial public security departments exchanged a wide range of valuable information, helping each other take the incentive in protecting national security and maintaining social order and effectively combating various types of crime.

Regarding their cooperation in preventing and combating crime, the two sides closely coordinated to successfully locate key areas and complex routes for drug-related activities; thanks to the effective collaboration, they could craft and implement joint plans to prevent and destroy trans-border illicit drug trafficking networks.

During the year, the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department organized four training courses on crime prevention, administrative management and the management of weapons and explosives for police officers from the northern Lao provinces, sharing hands-on experience and professional expertise with them. 

The two sides also deployed joint task forces to combat crimes in the northern Lao provinces.

At the conclusion of the talks, leaders of the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department and the three Lao provincial police departments signed the 2026 MoU, reaffirming their commitment to further enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation in maintaining security and order and building a Vietnam–Laos borderline of peace, friendship, stability and development.
