At the working session, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department reported on the results of the local police’s professional work and the implementation of assigned work targets in the first half of 2026.

According to the reports, thanks to the proactive deployment of preventive measures, social order offences in the city declined during the first six months of 2026, compared to the same period last year. Many criminal cases were solved within only a few hours after their occurrence, while street crime decreased significantly. Several large-scale drug trafficking and counterfeit goods rings were also successfully dismantled.

Addressing the working session, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements attained by the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department over the past time.

Regarding the local police’s key tasks for the second half of the year, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung requested the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department to continue proactively advising Party committees and local authorities on approaches to ensure security and social order, thereby creating a safe and stable environment conducive to the city’s socio-economic development while preventing any unexpected incidents.

The Deputy Minister stressed the need to further reduce the rate of social order violations, intensify efforts to combat drug-related crime, illegal lending (usury) activities, hi-tech crime and economic crime, and strive to reach the target of building 40 percent of wards and communes free from drugs in 2026.

He further suggested accelerating digital transformation, enhancing the effectiveness of Project 06 and developing a smart urban security governance model.

At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department should continue strengthening force building, tightening internal discipline and order and expediting investment in facilities and equipment for communal-level police units.

On behalf of the Directorate of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department Lieutenant General Mai Hoang affirmed that he had taken in the Deputy Minister’s directions, and that the local police force would focus on implementing solutions to address its shortcomings and successfully fulfill all assigned work targets for 2026.
