
9th Vietnam–China Ministerial Meeting on Crime Prevention and Control Cooperation takes place in Hanoi
At the invitation of Minister of Public Security of Vietnam General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security of China Wang Xiaohong, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of China, to visit the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and co-chair the 9th Ministerial Meeting on Cooperation in Crime Prevention and Control between the two ministries from March 15 to 17 in Hanoi.

At the 9th Ministerial Meeting on Cooperation in Crime Prevention and Control, the two sides reviewed the results of their coordination in crime prevention and control since the 8th meeting (September 2023), and discussed orientations for future cooperation.
Reports presented at the meeting highlighted that, over the past two years, the two sides have maintained high-level exchanges between ministry leaders, effectively implemented cooperation mechanisms between professional units and border local police, and organized regular meetings and annual talks at the departmental level among criminal police, counter-narcotics police and immigration management forces of both countries.
Regarding coordination in safeguarding security and maintaining political stability, the two sides have actively shared information to prevent, detect and handle terrorists and reactionary elements, while ensuring security for high-level visits, major political events and the safety of agencies, enterprises and citizens of one country in the other.
Police forces of the two countries have closely coordinated and effectively conducted joint operations through targeted campaigns to prevent and combat crimes involving citizens of each country.
In addition, the two sides have enhanced cooperation in border management and immigration control, assisting each other in verifying cases of illegal immigration and repatriating illegal immigrants, and annually launching joint campaigns against illegal entry and exit activities.
In the field of training and capacity building, the two ministries have organized training programs and professional exchange programs for hundreds of officers on various specialized areas, contributing to improving the law enforcement capacity of the two countries’ public security forces.
To further promote the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and contribute to building a Vietnam–China community with a shared future, Minister Luong Tam Quang and Minister Wang Xiaohong agreed to continue effectively implementing high-level common perceptions and signed cooperation agreements in the fields of security and law enforcement.
The two ministers also agreed to maintain cooperation in safeguarding political stability, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of citizens of one country in the other, enhancing information sharing and launching coordinated campaigns against transnational crime.
They further agreed to promote the role of the ministerial- and deputy ministerial-level mechanisms, expand and diversify bilateral cooperation at departmental and local levels, and strengthen mutual support in training and capacity building.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ministers of Public Security of Vietnam and China signed three cooperation documents between the two ministries, including the Minutes of the 9th Ministerial Meeting on Crime Prevention and Control Cooperation, a Memorandum of Understanding on security guard and a Memorandum of Understanding on counter-terrorism cooperation.
