Viet Nam’s MPS Office and Lao counterpart boost cooperation

A delegation from the Office of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a working session on the afternoon of July 7 with a visiting delegation from the Office of the Lao Ministry of Public Security, led by its Deputy Chief Major General Xiangthong Keobounlam.

Addressing the meeting, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan emphasized that the Vietnamese MPS Office has consistently taken the lead in executing the shared strategic visions of both countries' Party, State and Ministry leaders. By maintaining highly effective cooperation with its Lao counterpart and its affiliated units, the Office has helped deepen the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion that define the unique, time-honored alliance between the two nations and their public security forces.

Major General Toan noted that as the core strategic advisory body assisting ministry leaders in steering national security operations, the Vietnamese MPS Office directly manages and operates the Ministry's Command Information Center. The center features high-speed connectivity to local police departments nationwide and integrates cutting-edge information technology systems to streamline real-time command operations.

He affirmed that the session offered a valuable forum for both sides to exchange practical expertise in strategic counseling, administrative management, and force coordination, while cementing the tight-knit solidarity between the two offices.

For his part, Major General Xiangthong Keobounlam expressed deep gratitude for the warm, hospitality extended by Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan and the Vietnamese hosts. He stressed that developing an advanced, modern Command Information Center is a pressing priority for the Lao Public Security Forces to effectively navigate new security landscapes.

The Lao official expressed confidence that with the dedicated technical support and assistance of the Vietnamese MPS, and specifically its Office, the Lao Command Information Center would soon be completed and operationalized. This milestone, he noted, will significantly boost the modernization of Lao police forces, enhance national security safeguarding, and protect public safety.

As part of the working session, representatives from the Vietnamese MPS Office briefed the Lao delegation on the structural setup, operational models, cybersecurity protocols, and hands-on management experience required to run a ministerial-level modern command network.
