Overview of the meeting.

Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Head of the MPS Criminal Investigation Agency, chaired the meeting.

In the first quarter of 2026, the force successfully implemented an intensive campaign to attack and suppress crime, ensuring security and order during major events, including the Lunar New Year, the 14th National Party Congress and the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026–2031 term.

From the beginning of the year, the force proactively deployed synchronous measures to prevent and combat crime, playing its pioneering role in implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 8th Congress of the Public Security Central Party Committee.

At the meeting, delegates comprehensively evaluated the force’s work results, candidly pointed out shortcomings, difficulties and their causes, and proposed breakthrough solutions to enhance the efficiency of the prevention, investigation and handling of criminal cases, as well as to further strengthen the force in the coming period.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long hailed the force’s achievements in the first quarter.

Regarding the force’s key tasks in the time ahead, he stressed that criminal police units and agencies at all levels continue renewing their mindsets, shifting from a passive approach of starting an investigation only when a criminal offence occurs  to a proactive one of  taking measures to prevent criminal offences. According to the deputy minister, crime prevention should be considered the force’s prioritized,  fundamental and long-term strategy.

He also requested provincial- and communal-level police to enhance their sense of responsibility and focus on combating offences related to food safety, trading of counterfeit goods in cyberspace, unsafe street food and toys of unknown origin sold in markets and around school areas.

At the same time, they should proactively advise local authorities to strengthen management of providers of industrial and school meals.

In addition, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long emphasized the importance of  forecasting crime trends and early identifying risks, particularly transnational fraud that is targeting Vietnam, as well as tightening control over gambling hotspots in border areas.
