MPS attends the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption

The biennially convened Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption is the most important global forum for States Parties to reaffirm their high-level political commitment to anti-corruption efforts, while promoting international cooperation, experience-sharing and the exchange of good practices in implementing the convention.

At the conference, States Parties focused discussions on key issues, including the review of the implementation of the UN Convention against corruption, recovery of proceeds of corruption, strengthening international cooperation in anti-corruption, technical assistance activities and follow-up actions after the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on challenges and measures to prevent and combat corruption.

Within the framework of the conference, a representative of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam delivered the opening remarks at a sideline event themed “The Nexus between Cybercrime and Corruption in Southeast Asia.”

The speech highlighted the growing intersection between cybercrime and corruption as two increasingly converging threats, posing major challenges to effective governance and public trust in Southeast Asia and underscored the need for strategic, multi-sectoral and in-depth cooperative approaches.

The speech also reaffirmed Vietnam’s strategic priority given to strengthening the rule of law and safeguarding cyberspace, as well as its commitment to working with other countries to build a healthy, trustworthy and equitable digital environment.

With these substantive messages, the statement by the Vietnamese representative received strong support from UNODC and international delegates attending the conference.
