GTEL to operate directly under the Ministry of Public Security

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the ceremony.

At the event, a leader of the Department of Organization and Personnel announced the Minister of Public Security’s decisions to transfer the management of GTEL from the Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-tech Crimes to the Ministry of Public Security, to establish the GTEL Party Organization under the Public Security Central Party Committee, and to appoint Deputy Director of the Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-tech Crimes Senior Colonel Luong Duc Minh as Chairman of GTEL.

GTEL was established in 2007 under the management of the former General Department of Logistics and Engineering of the Ministry of Public Security. In 2017, the corporation was transferred in its entirety to the former Department of Cybersecurity, now the Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-tech Crimes.

After nearly 20 years, GTEL has become a key unit operating in the fields of technology and security industry, developing a diverse ecosystem of services ranging from telecommunications to data-based technology services in the framework of the National Digital Transformation Program and the Government’s Project 06.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated GTEL on its new organizational structure, describing it as a historic milestone in the corporation’s development history as it has now become an under-ministerial-level corporation.

To successfully fulfill its important responsibilities in the new period, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested GTEL to promptly stabilize its organization and effectively develop and implement its development strategy through 2030, with a vision toward 2045, striving to soon become the core of the national security industry complex and a leading enterprise in the security industry.

The Minister also stressed that GTEL should closely coordinate with other units under the Ministry in effectively implementing the Party’s policies on developing the security industry with a comprehensive, strategic and long-term vision.

Assuming his new position, Senior Colonel Luong Duc Minh affirmed that the leadership, officers, employees and workers of GTEL will stay united, restlessly uphold the moral qualities of the Public Security Forces, and strive to build the corporation as an increasingly strong organization capable of successfully fulfilling and accomplishing all assigned tasks.
