Criminal Police Force celebrates 80th Founding Anniversary

The Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security solemnly held a ceremony to mark the 80th founding anniversary of the Criminal Police Force (April 18, 1946 – 2026), on the morning of April 18 in Hanoi.

Member of the Politburo and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung attended and delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony, which was chaired by Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang.

Over the past 80 years of building and development, the Criminal Police Force has maintained its absolute loyalty to the Party and the Fatherland, wholehearted service to the people while achieving numerous outstanding accomplishments.

In recent years, the force has proactively implemented comprehensive reforms in all aspects of work, appropriately combining traditional professional approaches with modern ones, proactively employing advanced data analysis, digital forensics and inter-agency coordination in investigation, while it has continuously improved its legal knowledge, professional expertise and mastery of science, technology and data, and expanded international cooperation.

At the ceremony, the Criminal Police Force received the “Ho Chi Minh” Order, while five units and one officer were awarded the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.” The Criminal Police Department was also honored with the “First-Class Feat of Arms” Order. A number of outstanding officers and units under the department were also presented with various noble awards.

Addressing the ceremony, on behalf of Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung congratulated and highly commended the Criminal Police Force for its particularly outstanding achievements over the past 80 years. 

He emphasized that the force has written a heroic 80-year history, which is characterized by its absolute loyalty to the Party and the State, its wholehearted devotion to the Fatherland and the people, as well as its smartness, strong will, courage and sacrifice. Through out its 80-year history, the force has overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully fulfilled all of its assigned tasks, and achieved numerous remarkable feats of arms. 

The Prime Minister noted that the force is facing increasingly demanding tasks, which requires it not only to excel in investigation, swiftly solve cases and strictly handle offenders, but also to accurately forecast situations, provide good strategic advice and effectively control crime, thereby contributing to building a safer, more orderly and humane society. 

He requested the Criminal Police Force to thoroughly grasp and comprehend the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, particularly new perspectives on security articulated in the documents of the 14th National Party Congress. In the current context, he urged the force to strongly renovate their mindsets in order to make their mission of controlling  crime beneficial for socio-economic development. 

The Prime Minister also urged the force to improve the force ability to forecast and evaluate the situation, proactively identify emerging crime trends, methods and tactics and promptly advise the Party and State on improving policies and laws on crime prevention and control, especially for new types of crime, leaving no loopholes for criminal activities.

Speaking in reply to the Prime Minister’s instructions, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long affirmed that the Public Security Central Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security and the entire Criminal Police Force with their highest sense of discipline and responsibility will make all-out effort to realize the Party’s resolutions, especially the 14th Party Congress’s one, and perform their tasks in the time to come.
