Vietnamese Former People's Public Security Officers Association reviews half-term performance

The Vietnamese Former People's Public Security Officers Association convened its mid-term congress of the 2023–2028 tenure on November 25, in Hanoi.

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang attended and delivered a keynote speech at the congress.

The congress also saw the presence of Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vu Chien Thang.

Chairman of the Vietnamese Former People's Public Security Officers Association Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, former Member of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Minister of Public Security, chaired the congress.

The congress discussed and evaluated the results achieved by the association during the first half of the term, approved key tasks for the remainder of the 2023–2028 tenure, adopted revisions and supplements to the Association’s Charter, and approved reports on activities and personnel matters of the Executive Board.

Accordingly, during the first half of the term, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Executive Board, the Standing Board, provincial- and communal- level chapters, and members, the Vietnamese Former People's Public Security Officers Association has steadily developed, promoted its role and position, becoming a strong support for not only retired officers, but also active-duty officers, especially those at the grassroots level, helping them fulfill their assigned duties.

Delivering remarks at the congress on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang acknowledged, highly valued and appreciated the contributions, dedication and efforts made by the Vietnamese Former People's Public Security Officers Association over the past time.

Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the association should continue to consolidate and strengthen its organizational structure in line with the two-tier local administrative model, establish its local chapters in all newly-established communes and wards, and have its members in 100% organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels.

He also encouraged members to actively join grassroots-level working fields, participate in local security and order teams, and multiply exemplary models of the “All People Protecting National Security” movement, saying that they should stay close to the people, grasp the situation in their localities and support local authorities and communal police units in accomplishing their tasks.

In addition, the Minister urged the association to further implement the “Public Security Veterans’ Comradeship Program,” while taking good care of retired public security officers facing difficulties or suffering from serious illnesses, adding that the association should report on special cases so the ministry can provide support the retire public security officers in particularly difficult circumstances on time.
