The Vietnamese language training programme for foreign law enforcement officers has been held annually for the past 15 years, reflecting the attention and commitment of the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to cooperation in training and capacity-building between Vietnamese law enforcement forces and partner countries.
The course was not only a language-training programme but also a forum for law enforcement officers from various countries to exchange information and professional experience, thereby enhancing mutual understanding, strengthening trust and building a solid foundation for closer cooperation between Vietnamese law enforcement agencies and their foreign counterparts in combating transnational crime.
The course was joined by 24 officers from foreign law enforcement agencies of other countries, including 16 attending the Elementary Vietnamese programme and 8 attending the Advanced Vietnamese programme.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Colonel Nguyen Hoa Chi emphasized that, in the context of increasingly complex developments in transnational crime, high-tech crime, drug-related offences, human trafficking and cybersecurity, improving foreign language capability of officers, strengthening mutual understanding and enhancing international cooperation are essential requirements for law enforcement agencies.
He affirmed that the course had not only equipped the trainees with language skills in support of their professional work but also serves as a bridge between law enforcement agencies of countries and helped strengthen trust, understanding and friendship between Vietnamese law enforcement forces and those of other countries.
The Deputy Director expressed confidence that their acquired knowledge, skills and experiences would effectively support the trainees in their future duties. He hoped that they would make their part to further promoting cooperation between their country’s law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, a student expressed sincere thanks to the functional units of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for its organization of the language course, affirmed their determination to bring into full play their Vietnamese, and serve as important bridges for the cooperation between Vietnam and foreign interior, security and police agencies.
